These individuals have been acquitted in various cases probed by the CBI in the last three years. In another question, Singh reported a total of 3, 617 individuals have been convicted by the courts in 1, 800 corruption cases booked by the CBI. Of those, 741 individuals have been convicted by the courts this season, the minister said.

In 2016, 1, 005 individuals have been convicted in 503 corruption cases. A total of 878 and 993 individuals were convicted in 2015 and 2014 respectively. The central government doesn't interfere with the investigation of cases completed by the CBI. CBI has set down procedures from the CBI crime manual at analyzing the cases that have ended in acquittal,

Singh said. Such judgments are scrutinised and examined by CBI with regard into the justification of payment, if any material is available for filing an appeal against the acquittal or release or if a mention has to be made to the Attorney General or his nominee to ascertain whether the acquittal was due to flawed investigation and prosecution, and also to fix responsibility, he said. Following an investigation of those judgments by different officers at different degrees in CBI, in the event, it's discovered to be a fit case to file an appeal against the acquittal, an appeal is registered in the courts after taking the approval of the government, the minister said.
